“OKKO” and Vasyl Virastiuk have completed the last stage of ‘Bogatyr’ contest prior to 2007 finals

The next ‘Bogatyr’ contest under the name of Vasyl Virastiuk was held this Sunday, October 21. This time the spectators were Vinnytsia residents. The last tournament in the show format by Vasyl Virastiuk was held here in 2003, under OKKO support.
Regardless of weather conditions that discouraged both spectators and sportsmen, the competition kept its suspense while the permanent distance between athletes did not excess 1-2-3 points. One o the most complicated exercises was «Atlas Balls». This time this discipline was performed with the stones weighing 100, 120, 135 and 155 kg. Though, yet the second time in consequence this performance was interrupted by rainfall, which causes serious complications for athletes, since it is rather hard to hold wet stones and get them on the podium 1.4 m. of height.
Herewith, it is our pleasure to state that despite the stones were lighter last year, only two athletes managed to put them on the podium. This time, however, the competition was timed and all athletes managed to get the stones to the final destination. Namely this complicated discipline proved the progress among young competitors and their readiness to further face professional sport challenges – which feature the key objective of OKKO’s participation in this competition. The winner was 22-year old competitor from Kyiv Serhiy Konyushok, who managed to overcome the yet acclaimed athlete Roman Novyk (Kharkiv) and Serhiy Oleolenko (Uzhhorod), a winner of “Carpathian Bear” contest. Vasyl Virastiuk served as the head referee of the competition.
Vinnytsia stage was the last challenge prior to the finals. The place for finals is not chosen yet, nonetheless, the high spirit of competition is already promising.
