
The 1st International Competition on Emergency Medical Care was held from 22 to 24 of June in Ternopil region on the basis of the educational and recreational complex “Chervona Kalyna” of the Ternopil State Medical University named after I. Y. Gorbachevskyi. The organizers of the competition were the Ukrainian educational and practical center for Emergency Medical Care and Disaster Medicine and the Ministry of Health.
The team of the Lviv Regional Center for Emergency Medical Care and Disaster Medicine participated in the competition, financially supported by the net of OKKO fuel stations.
Generally, 21 teams took part in the competitions: 16 Ukrainian teams and 5 Polish teams. Emergencies contested in three stages: 2 daytime stages and 1 nighttime stage. Medical personnel and drivers of “emergencies” showed their skills and experience in 8 tasks: 4 practical situational tasks, test competition, competition on physical stamina, on presence of medical equipment in “emergencymobiles”, and competition on driving mastery.
The peculiarity of the Ternopil contest was that it continued 36 hours non-stop. The referees of the tasks remarked high-quality technique of practical skills application during providing medical aid by the teams from Lviv and Ternopil.
The winners were chosen according to the total of gained points at all stages of the competition.
The team from Vinnytsya won the first place.
The second place – “Borys” medical hospital (Kyiv).
The third place was given to the team of the Lviv Regional Center for Emergency Medical Care and Disaster Medicine.
Competitions are held with the aim to improve emergency medical care at prehospital stage and to make the level of health care of the Ukrainian citizens generally better.
