The Championship of Carpathians in bouldering. Ihor Sharabura Memorial

1.jpgOn the 12th-13th of June sport rock-climbing competition on natural relief took place on the rocks in Bubnyshche village of Ivano-Frankivsk region. Competition dedicated to the memory of a prominent alpinist Ihor Sharabura, was organized and conducted by Ivano-Frankivsk and L'viv regional federations of mountaineering and rock-climbing. About 50 rock-climbers from Ukraine and Poland participated in the competition. This time sportsmen demonstrated their skills in passing the routes on small rocks (three to five meters high) with no belay. This type of rock-climbing is named bouldering in the world, and it develops actively during the last years.

Roman Starun from Stryi and Natalya Vasylenko from L'viv became the winners of this Championship of Carpathians.

«The preparation of such competition is rather difficult and requires great climbing experience, – emphasized Olena Serhiyenko, one of the competition organizers, a submaster sportsman in rock-climbing. – In fact one needs not only to prepare a rock carefully and make it safe for sportsmen but also manage to identify difficult and interesting lines which are possible to rise the rock by». Routes were prepared by Yevhen Hrafov and Serhiy Krasovskyi – the members of Extrem mountain club (L'viv).

Competition was conducted with the assistance of ÎÊÊÎ filling complexes network and Comanchero sports equipment store.

In 1970-80s Ihor Sharabura was a coach of Concern Galnaftogaz (ÎÊÊÎ filling complexes network) CEO Vitaliy Antonov.
